The Children with Special Healthcare Needs Program is administered by the Livingston County Department of Health. This is a New York State Initiative in the arena of children with special needs.
The program focuses on children ages 0-21 who have, or are suspected of having a serious or chronic condition that also requires services of a type or amount beyond what is required generally. These conditions may be within any of the following areas:
The Bureau of Child and Adolescent Health hopes that this program will better define the issues and priorities of children within the above domains. Key activities of the program include:
Disseminating Child Health Plus information
Facilitating access to health care coverage for children who are uninsured or under-insured
Reporting on contacts made to the Physically Handicapped Children’s Program
