The Children with Special Healthcare Needs Program is administered by the Livingston County Department of Health.  This is a New York State Initiative in the arena of children with special needs.

The program focuses on children ages 0-21 who have, or are suspected of having a serious or chronic condition that also requires services of a type or amount beyond what is required generally.  These conditions may be within any of the following areas:

  • Physical
  • Developmental
  • Behavioral
  • Emotional

The Bureau of Child and Adolescent Health hopes that this program will better define the issues and priorities of children within the above domains.  Key activities of the program include:

  • Disseminating Child Health Plus information
  • Facilitating access to health care coverage for children who are uninsured or under-insured
  • Reporting on contacts made to the Physically Handicapped Children’s Program
  • Tracking information
