GENESEO, N.Y., Nov. 2, 2022 – The Livingston County Board of Supervisors further demonstrated its commitment to supporting veterans by helping to reduce barriers to employment after approving a resolution to waive any fees associated with Civil Service examinations within the County.
This initiative, put forth by the Livingston County Human Resources Department and supported by the Livingston County Office of Veteran Services, is intended to encourage those who served in our nation’s armed forces to consider civil service positions and to apply knowing that they have no fees for an exam.
“This is just another way to thank our veterans and further demonstrate that Livingston County is veteran friendly,” said David L. Terry who is the Director of the Office of Veteran Services. “Our veteran population is an asset to our community. Our former service members have unique qualities such as various skill sets, training and experience they bring to the work environment from their military service that are different from all others. Veterans are important to the work place and we want them to know how important they are to Livingston County.”
The County has a long history of supporting its veteran population through innovative programming and support services. Through its Office of Veteran Services, Livingston County is continually advocating for veteran benefits while promoting the many accomplishments of those who served. In addition, the County has been designated as a Purple Heart County and founded Operation Green Light – now a national program designed to spread awareness and gratitude for veterans by lighting up buildings and homes in green light. In 2019, the County also dedicated a newly constructed monument to veterans and recently formed a partnership with Veterans One-Stop of Western New York to provide impactful programming and gatherings designed specifically for veterans.
“We are proud of our veterans and want them to know how valuable they are to Livingston County,” added David LeFeber, Chairman of the Livingston County Board of Supervisors. “Their contributions to our nation are countless and we take great pride in being able to support them through initiatives like this and others.”
