National Epilepsy Awareness Month Comes to a Close

Epilepsy

GENESEO, N.Y., Nov. 29, 2022 – November marks National Epilepsy Awareness Month and Livingston County recognizes the struggle that many people affected by this condition suffer on a daily basis.  An annual event, National Epilepsy Awareness Month seeks to educate the public about the causes and symptoms of epilepsy.

Despite nearly 3.5 million Americans and their families being impacted by epilepsy, there remains much to be learned about the brain disorder.  Those affected with the condition often suffer from multiple daily challenges such as mood changes, sleep disorders, problems with cognitive abilities and often experience social and financial hardships.

Founded in 1969 by the Epilepsy Foundation, National Epilepsy Awareness Month seeks to highlight the unique challenges and aspects associated with epilepsy.  Through education, outreach, advocacy and legislative policies, the Epilepsy Foundation is continually working towards its goal of a seizure safe country.
