A reception with light refreshments will be held immediately following the event. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Donna Mankoff at (585) 245-3947.
“Catholic Charities Steuben/Livingston HOPE Mentorship Program has served youth in our community for years,” said Lynne Mignemi, the County’s Director of Probation. “I have long admired their creativity and ingenuity in creating relationships despite the shortage of mentors for youths in Livingston County. This theater project is such a unique collaboration. I can only imagine how proud the student writers and college performers will be to see these plays brought to life.”
Created in 1997, the Helping One Person Excel Program (HOPE) has matched hundreds of at-risk young people in Livingston County with mentors. The boys and girls who are referred to the program often range between 6-16 in age and are in need of extra support. Through programs like HOPE, scores of youths in Livingston County have been able to increase self-esteem, confidence, communication skills and more.
SUNY Geneseo has a long-standing history of supporting HOPE. The program matches volunteer Geneseo students with at-risk children in nearby communities with the goal of making a positive long-lasting impact. The HOPE Program also organizes numerous events for youths and mentors including trips to the Strong Museum, Buffalo Bills and Rochester Red Wings Games and other enriching activities.
