GENESEO, N.Y., Mar. 15, 2023 – Livingston County has announced that it has reached a new contract with the Livingston County Deputy Sheriff’s Coalition (LCDSC) effective immediately.
“I’m grateful that the County and LCDSC were able to agree on a new three-year contract,” said David L. LeFeber, Chair of the Livingston County Board of Supervisors. “This new contract will ensure that critical positions within our law enforcement ranks are supported with improvements to benefit packages, financial incentives and more for years to come.”
The contract, which runs through December 31, 2025 and is applicable to corrections officers, civilian dispatchers, clerical staff members and cooks (corrections), has several new provisions within the agreement designed to retain and attract employees from across the region.
The new agreement provides LCDSC members with a seven percent wage increase in 2023 and eliminates the “new-hire” rate with a three percent increase scheduled in each of the following two years. The new contract also contains several amendments to the County’s benefit structure including an increased contribution towards the Standard Plan health insurance premium for those hired on or after January 1, 2013. The new contract also includes an increase in the drop payment amount related to health insurance and provides dental insurance to all employees with the County covering the premium in its entirety.
Under the new collective bargaining agreement, members of the union will now have June 19th (Juneteenth) as a paid holiday and can receive payment in lieu of holidays for all accrued and unused holiday time. Additionally, the agreement calls for an increase in the eligibility for payment in lieu of vacation from one week to 10 days.
Additionally, the newly negotiated contract includes an increase in the rate for specialty pay assignments and provides additional compensation for any full-time employee who is assigned to field train a new employee.
