GENESEO, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2023 – The Livingston County Department of Health, in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension, will host a free car seat check this weekend as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week.
The event, which will take place Saturday, September 23 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., will be held at the Geneseo Fire Department located at 133 Center Street, Geneseo, N.Y. 14454.
Vehicular accidents are among the leading causes of death for children ages 1-13. Car seats and boosters provide potentially life-saving protection for infants and children when properly installed. Saturday’s event will aim to educate parents and guardians on the importance of choosing the proper car seats based on their child’s age and size as well as the proper ways to install. While appointments are encouraged, drive-ups are also welcomed. In order to properly inspect, organizers are requiring that children and a parent or guardian be present.
