MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y., Oct. 18, 2023 — County employees and their friends and families recently gathered in Al Lorenz Park in Mount Morris to compete in the 12th Annual Livingston County SHAPE 1K & 5K Family Fun Walk/Run. More than 40 competitors took part in the County-run event, which brought runners through the park’s scenic trails and around the County’s Murray Hill campus.

Taking home first prize in the 5K run was the Department of Health’s Pete Swarts. Close behind him was Margaret Betette, also from the Health Department. Third place went to Fred Ingalls, family member of an employee. The 5K walker placement included Janice Hamilton, family member; Darren Hamilton from Veteran’s Affairs, and County Historian Holly Watson.

The top 1K runners included Lucy Martin, Nicki LaVerde, and Norah Martin, all family members of County employees. The top 1K walkers were Jaycey Wheaton, family member; Stacey Bennett, Department of Health; and Michele Rees, Board of Supervisors.

At the event’s conclusion, all participants received a race-themed t-shirt along with a box lunch meal provided by the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Seven lucky winners received prize baskets donated by employees from the Sheriff’s Office, Department of Social Services, County Historian, County Clerk and DMV Offices, Records Management, Department of Health, and Human Resources.
